Farmers to face tougher conditions with climate change

Breaking Earth News: Australia
Friday, 02/02/2007

An international climate change report out later today is expected to predict that farmers will face more droughts, water shortages and extreme weather.

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change will report that humans are to blame for increasing global warming.

Fruit and vegetable growers says they are already feeling the impact of climate change.

And Cattle Council president Bill Bray says livestock producers will face increasing challenges.

"We're seeing weather patterns changing across Australia, from probably wetter seasons in the north to drier in the south," he said.

"All that will have an effect on production, the numbers of cattle, where cattle are sourced from, and the quality of cattle."
